There are three ways of using the AVPro Edge Matrix in conjunction with a C4 Control System for Audio Distribution:
- Under the System Design tab, Set the Matrix Driver Audio Switching Property to Bind to Input

- Next, under the connections tab, route the source devices audio directly to your audio matrix. In this case the Triad AMS8, by dragging and dropping the audio output onto the audio input.

- If your source does not have a direct audio output; use the Control4 AV Path Setter to create a new audio pathway.

Why route audio this way?
Setting the Matrix to Bind to Input mode will cause the Extracted Audio ports to follow the HDMI Input with the same number. For example, Extracted Audio Output 1 will always follow Video Input 1's Audio. In Control4 when stacking two or more matrices on top of each other, Audio and Video Pathways may multiply exponentially. Which at times may cause confusion in the system, causing audio and video pathways to become out of sync. We can prevent confusion in a solution by reducing the maximum amount of pathways; kind of like adding 1+1. Guaranteeing a perfect switch every time.
2. Bind to Output - I only want to hear what the Display is showing (Composer must not be bound to another audio matrix for this to work)
- Under the System Design tab, Set the Matrix Driver Audio Switching Property to Bind to Output

- Connect the extracted audio port from the matrix to the amplifier. Integrated Amplifier with Volume Control recommended.

Set Audio and Volume Selections to the Amplifier

Why route this way?
Routing this this way allows the user to utilize the built in audio matrix. Setting the Matrix to Bind to Output mode will cause the Extracted Audio ports to follow the HDMI Output with the same number. For example, If HDMI Output 1 was playing Source 1's video, Extracted Output 1 would play Source 1's Audio. If HDMI Output one switches to Source 2's Video, Extracted Output 1 will automatically switch to playing Source 2's Audio.
3. Matrix Mode - Independent Audio Switching
- Under the System Design tab, Set the Matrix Driver Audio Switching Property to Matrix

- Connect the extracted audio port from the matrix to the amplifier. Integrated Amplifier with Volume Control recommended.

- Apply the Room Selection For the Desired Room of Choice. In this case, we chose living room.

Why route this way?
Routing this this way allows the user to utilize the built in audio matrix. Setting the Matrix to Matrix Mode will give the user the ability to select an input Source Device's Audio on any Extracted Audio Output by using Control4's Listen Commands. However, it is recommended that the integrator program a macro that will have audio follow video when a displays video source device is changed using the Watch command.
