When Dirac plays test tones through the X-Series’ speakers, it should play a pink noise “static” sound through each channel, and a repeated “woop woop” tone through the subwoofer.
In some cases, the user will hear a repeated ticking noise, which will cause inconsistent volume calibration and will cause the measurement to fail.
How to get rid of the ticks and bring back the static:
- Exit Dirac
- Perform a factory reset
- Press and hold the INFO and Zone buttons on the front panel
- Wake the unit back up
- Do the following:
- Go to the speaker types menu and make sure all speakers are set up
- Go to the General Setup menu, ensure Control is set to IP
- If the web interface is open,re using the web interface, close out of it and power cycle the X-series
- Open Dirac, select the Mic, and run the Volume Calibration. The tones should all play correctly now.
