Dirac - Mysterious Ticking Noise

Dirac - Mysterious Ticking Noise

When Dirac plays test tones through the X-Series’ speakers, it should play a pink noise “static” sound through each channel, and a repeated “woop woop” tone through the subwoofer.

In some cases, the user will hear a repeated ticking noise, which will cause inconsistent volume calibration and will cause the measurement to fail.

How to get rid of the ticks and bring back the static:

  1. Exit Dirac
  2. Perform a factory reset
    1. Press and hold the INFO and Zone buttons on the front panel
  3. Wake the unit back up
  4. Do the following:
    1. Go to the speaker types menu and make sure all speakers are set up
    2. Go to the General Setup menu, ensure Control is set to IP
    3. If the web interface is open,re using the web interface, close out of it and power cycle the X-series
  5. Open Dirac, select the Mic, and run the Volume Calibration. The tones should all play correctly now.
