Using the crossover on a Director Amplifier

Using the crossover on a Director Amplifier

The following information applies to the Director D2800, D4600, M4800, M4840, M6400, and M6800 amplifiers, and does not apply to the Dante CM amplifiers.

Each zone on the Director amplifier has a crossover control with that can be used to create a high pass, low pass, or band pass for your speakers.

The amount you can change the high or low pass frequencies varies depending on which option you have selected.

Default

When Default is selected, the zone will pass the widest range of frequencies.
  1. The High Pass filter can be adjusted from 15 to 45 Hz.
  2. The Low Pass filter can be adjusted from 17,000 to 20,000 Hz.

High Pass

When the High Pass icon is selected, the zone will prevent most of the low-end frequencies from playing to speakers that may not be able to handle lower frequencies.
  1. The High Pass filter can be adjusted from 50 to 5,000 Hz.
  2. The Low Pass filter can be adjusted from 17,000 to 20,000 Hz.

Low Pass

When the Low Pass icon is selected, the zone will pass only the low end frequencies. This is typically used for zones that are powering Subwoofers.
  1. The High Pass filter can be adjusted from 15 to 45 Hz.
  2. The Low Pass filter can be adjusted from 80 to 350 Hz.

Band Pass

The Band Pass filter allows the zone to pass the mid-range frequencies to the speakers.
  1. The High Pass filter can be adjusted from 100 to 750 Hz.
  2. The Low Pass filter can be adjusted from 2,000 to 5,000 Hz.

Additional Assistance

If a speaker profile is active, you will see the following message where the crossover is: A Speaker Calibration profile that Employs the HPF/LPF is currently loaded therefore this control can't be modified

Speaker profile active, crossover cannot be changed.

Because the speaker profiles have crossover frequencies tailored specifically for the speaker that was chosen, the web interface will prevent you from making changes to the high and low pass filters. If the speaker profile is removed from that zone, you will be able to adjust the crossover again.
